The new Garmin nüvi 1690 is a portable navigation device that can connects to Ciao, Garmin's exclusive location based social networking service. Thru it's wireless module the Nuvi can connect to Garmin's nüLink! service where users can view information such as Google™ local search, traffic, weather, fuel prices, movie listings, flight status, local events, white page and the aforementioned Ciao. Besides being a portable navigation device , the Nuvi has a Bluetooth wireless technology that enables the users to place call within the device. This is done just by pairing it with over 200 bluetooth enabled phones. The Garmin nüvi 1690 will retails for $499.99 in the US and will be available in the last quarter of this year. Garmin has released a new cycling GPS that features a high-sensitivity GPS receiver, requires no calibration, can be switched quickly and easily between bicycles and connects wirelessly with ANT+™ compatible third-party power meters. The EDGE 500 GPS can track speed, distance, time, GPS position, elevation, calories burned, climb and descent.It can also track changes in a user’s heart rate when used in conjuction with a Garmin heart monitor. Using this heart data it can accurately track the persons burned calories. Retail price is $249.99 and if bundled with a heart rate monitor and speed/cadence sensor, it retails for $349.99. Garmin has announced its newest product, the Garmin Navigator IV, a GPS system made primarily for BMW Motorrad. The Garmin Navigator IV is a motorcycle mounted GPS with exclusive BMW features such as a customized mount, preloaded BMW dealer database, unique audio and Bluetooth capabilities. It has a 4.3 inch touchscreen display and is glove friendly. The device is also waterproof and designed to withstand fuel sprays and UV rays.
