Panasonic has unveiled the Panasonic AG-HMC40 camcorder, its latest in the line of its professional AVCCAM system. It is a more lightweight, more compact camcorder design with portability in mind. Features includes full HD 3MOS imagers, a 10.6-megapixal still photo capture, 12X optical zoom and solid-state AVCHD recording. It uses MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 high profile encoding which is greatly superior to the older MPEG-2 compression format. This cam can record in the following AVCCAM recording modes namely; PH mode (average 21 Mbps/Max 24Mbps) HA mode (approx.17 Mbps) HG mode (approx.13 Mbps) Extended recoring HE mode (approx. 6 Mbps) When using PH Mode , users can record approximately three hours of full resolution 1920x1080, four hours at HA mode, 5.3 hours at HG mode and 12 hours of 1440x1080 HD content using only a single 32 GB SDHC card per mode.
