Windows 7 to Ship In Six Different Versions




Windows will ship its newest version of Windows into six different flavors. Microsoft has confirmed to some sources that its newest offering will be having six different version aimed for different markets.

Windows 7 Starter Edition
This version of Windows 7 is primarily aimed at emerging markets and netbook users. Since this is the basic edition, users can only open 3 applications simultaneously. An improved task bar and a Jumplist are also included in this version. Other feature includes sharing of media files on the local network.

Windows 7 Home Basic
Windows 7 Home basic version is the equivalent of the of Vista's Media Center. This version features include internet connection sharing on wired and wireless LAN, use of unlimited application at the same time, live thumbnail previews and other UI improvements.

Windows 7 Home Premium
Features such as Aero Glass UI, advanced window navigation, touchscreen support handwriting recognition and multi-touch support. Improvement for media format support and enhancement of Windows media support and streaming media format in are also some of the features in the Windows 7 Home Premium Edition.

Windows 7 Professional
The Windows 7 Professional Edition includes more security and networking features like the Encrypting File System, advanced network backup and joining managed networks with Domain Join.

Windows 7 Enterprise and Windows 7 Ultimate
This the Windows 7 version aim primarily for large business corporation. This edition features bitlocker data protection for internal and external drives, locking of unauthorized software using AppLocker and DirectAccess for corporate networking based on the Windows Server 2008 R2. The Ultimate version of the Windows 7 is aimed primarily for end users wanting the features of the Enterprise.
